This estuary is located near our school, in
the Medway towns, we felt that the estuary would be a good place to film some
of our trailer as we felt that the river represents a kind of middle between
two lands and this is what purgatory also means. The estuary was an original idea
and does actually feature that much in our final piece, although it does when Katy
is trying to hide in a bush during the middle of the trailer.
We felt the estuary was quite an eary place
to film as there are abandoned ships lying around in the marshes that haven’t been
touched for years. This creates the kind of tension that we wanted to portray
in our final product. We didn’t come to use the shots we filmed here in our
final feature because we filmed a lot of them in the light at this is the only
time we had access to the estuary and therefore didn’t fit our film. We tried
to edit the contrast etc. to make it look darker but we didn’t get the desired
effect and therefore decided to scrap the footage.
