research into fonts

The fonts below are the few fonts that we looked at using in our final coursework; we wanted to keep the same font throughout all of our trailer and both our magazine and film poster. We looked at fonts from urbanfonts.com as well as ones that were already programmed into PowerPoint etc. but we found that dafonts.com was the best when it came down to looking for fonts that would suit our genre.

The fonts below are the fonts that we felt was good ones for our title but the one highlighted with a black background was the one that we decided to use as we felt that is was the most versatile and eye catching.

Title of our Film; Purgatory

Purgatory

Definition- a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven.

We believed that this would be an appropriate name for our film as our film is based around the story of a girl that goes through a lot of suffering in order to come out of the other side as a better person. Which is basically explained by the word purgatory. Purgatory is a catholic term that means the middle between heaven and hell. Where sinners have to suffer before they are allowed to go to heaven. So as you can see this describes our film pretty clearly.

Animatic

This animatic shows the basic story line for our trailer. It shows the first couple of shots that we will be using. This helps us to organise what we are filming when we go out to film. Last year I found it hard to know what to film as our animatic was so basic but this time we have made a much more in depth one that’s going to help with the exact shots and angles to shoot at.
I used a storyboard maker to create this and I feel that its come out really well as you can see the characters clearly. The settings are clearly set out helping us to show what props are meant to be in each scene.
Before I created the animatic I wrote down each individual shot that we could need to include in the story board-this helped when it came down to actually making the animatic as its handy to have everything written down and planned first then just going straight ahead and making it. This way we were able to edit it fast and effectively with out messing around with making shots and deleting them again. It’s also easy to have a paper copy, as this is what we can take with us on our shooting sessions- as well as having the animatic for a hard copy.
